Although they are famous for TV, Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell are given the duty to lead the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. The Dunphys of "Modern Family" have been tapped to host the ceremony which will be aired live by ABC from Las Vegas on May 20 at 8 P.M.
"We are thrilled to have television's favorite Emmy Award winning couple as our hosts for this year's Billboard Music Awards," said Richard D. Beckman, CEO of Prometheus Global Media. "Ty and Julie have captured the hearts of America with their on-screen chemistry and humor - and we look forward to having them bring that magic to the Billboard Music Awards."
The nominees of this year's event have been announced last week with Rihanna, Adele, Lil Wayne and Lady GaGa on the lead. Finalists are based on key fan interactions with music, including album, single and digital sales, airplay, touring, streaming and social interactions on MySpace, Facebook and many of the other most popular online destinations for music.
Justin Bieber and Carrie Underwood have been confirmed to perform at the ceremony.
