GOP lawmakers hit for votes on health care repeal

Liberal groups and bloggers have launched radio ads targeting House Republicans in some swing districts for voting for repeal of the nation's health care law.

Americans United for Change, Daily Kos and Blue America have teamed up on the campaign, which targets House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and fellow Republicans Charlie Bass of New Hampshire, Sandy Adams of Florida and Leonard Lance of New Jersey.

"Instead of focusing on creating jobs, Congressman Bass and his Republican colleagues are doggedly focused on repealing the new health law, which would actually hamper job growth," Tom McMahon, executive director of Americans United for Change, said in a statement.

The GOP-led House last month easily passed a bill to repeal the law, which President Obama signed last year. Democrats earlier this month blocked the GOP's attempt in the Senate.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., told reporters Tuesday that an upcoming bill to fund the government past March 4 will probably include a ban on spending any federal money to implement the health care law.

Bass' district underscores the political challenges facing some Republicans who voted to overturn the legislation that President Obama signed into law last year.

Obama won New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District with 56% of the vote in 2008. Bass, who previously served six terms in Congress, was narrowly elected in November, with 48.3% of the vote.

Lance, who is in his second term, represents a New Jersey district that narrowly chose Obama over Republican John McCain in 2008.
